Barnegat Volunteer Fire is a community organization working to promote fire safety. They assist with issues including fire safety, fire breakouts, structural fires, medical issues and more. The department has numerous vehicles including fire engines, ladder vehicles, rescue vehicles and medical support vehicles.
Fairfax County maintains 41 fire stations throughout the county - this one opened in 2007, making it number 41. It is one of two in Fairfax Station and keeps ten professional firefighters on duty at all times; these are members of a staff estimated to be about 30 people in total. The staff of men and women are equipped and trained to deal with emergencies in the local and surrounding communities. In addition to fighting fires and providing emergency medical assistance, firefighters show residents how to safely install child seats, set-up and use smoke detectors and conduct home safety checks. The department is part of the Northern Virginia regional response system along with the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, the City of Fairfax, Prince William County, Loudoun County, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Fort Belvoir and Fort Meyer.
Founded in 1923, this fire department covers a 4.3-square-mile area and employs a variety of equipment, including an ambulance unit, a heavy-rescue unit, and a department van.
The Blauvelt Volunteer Fire Company is led by Chief Dave Schnitzer. It provides emergency fire suppression and other emergency services for the community. It also houses a hall, which is available for rental.
