The Eden Prairie Fire Department operates four separate fire stations in the Eden Prairie area. It is always looking to expand its staff of 95 paid on-call firefighters and encourages individuals in good physical shape to apply, particularly those who live or work in close proximity to one of the fire stations.
Wayzata Police Department provides law enforcement services to citizens in the Twin Cities area. There is a volunteer reserve unit as well as a crime prevention coalition in this department. Information is available at the office about sexual predators, coyotes, animal regulations and free gun locks. There are 12 sworn police officers in this department, as well as a police chief, lieutenant, school resource officer, sergeant and eight patrol officers.
Hopkins Fire Department provides emergency response services to fires and other emergencies throughout the Minneapolis area. This organization also offers fire prevention and education programs. The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program, which is a part of the Hopkins Fire Department, responds to medical emergencies.
Since opening in 2004, the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility has provided area public safety agencies with a truly cutting-edge training venue. Edina joined forces with the Metropolitan Airport Commission as well as the cities of Bloomington and Eden Prairie to jointly own and operate the facility, which features a 12-lane shooting range, classrooms, defensive tactics room and external tower for a variety of simulations. Police and fire agencies from all over the southwest metro area use the facility.
Members of the public rent lanes at the facility's firing range every Saturday from 8am until 2pm. Lanes are available for $15 per half-hour, with only pistols allowed on the range. Ear and eye protection are available for rental, though the facility does not provide firearms or ammunition to customers.

The fire department of Long Lake holds two offices, one of which may be found at 340 N. Willow Drive. It performs services in fire response, emergency medical response and natural disaster response. Its facilities conduct training in fire prevention, suppression and emergency response. It is helmed by Fire Chief James Van Eyll.
