Peak Performance Sports Camps is a training and sports instruction company. Led by owner Mark Carmody, the company offers a wide range of athletic programs to help children train, learn and refine their skills in their respective sports. Programs administered by the camps have been developed by certified teachers and coaches who work with athletes of various levels, from beginner to advanced. Some activities include individual sports training, team sports, summer camps, birthday party services and after-school programs.
Established in 1930 by Robert White, then president of the PGA, Silver Spring Country Club is the premier private club of Ridgefield. It offers a full, 18-hole course, eight all-weather Har-Tru tennis courts, two handball courts, a swimming pool and a recently renovated clubhouse. Check the club's Web site for more info.
With roots strecthing back into the 193os, the Madison Winter Club is a private club that started as a place to gather during the winter months when the country club was closed. Today's members are men and women who hold holiday dinners, parties, activities and other social events. The club is located on Boston Post Road at Neck Road.
Sterling Field is a community area and park that hosts many games and offers athletic fields and areas for teams to use. Some teams include the West Hartford Youth Soccer Association, West Hartford Youth Football League, West Hartford Youth Baseball and West Hartford Girls Soccer League. It also has a running track.
This park is home to the Simsbury Little League's complex. The complex is composed of six fields. In addition to the little league complex, the park also has a hardball field and a men's softball field. Other features include a swimming area, skate park and an adult softball field. The swimming area is open seasonally. Admission is free, and the park is open from sunrise to sunset.
On 30 acres of woodlands overlooking Lake Quonnipaug, the New Haven Sportsman's Club offers indoor and outdoor shooting. It has an eight-shooting-position indoor range, a 50-yard outdoor pistol range, and an outdoor high-power rifle range. Also offered are matches, events and cowboy shoots.
Swimming, tennis and boating are all offered at The Lake Club, a private recreational facility in Wilton since 1958. The club's Pro Tennis Shop provides accessories, apparel, gear and stringing as a complement to the neighboring courts.
Podium is a local fitness and training sturio specializing in indoor cycling and endurance sports coaching. This family owned studio offers state-of-the-art training equipment and professional bike fittings. It offers regular cycling classes as well as time trials, races, team training and private coaching. Sessions can be booked online through the Podium website. Podium opened in 2013.
A members-only golf club, Madison Country Club course was built in 1909. Adjacent to salt and fresh water marshes, the 18-hole course features ponds, streams and a location close to Long Island Sound and the Madison town center. A detailed history of the course, hole by hole, was written by long-time member and club champion Bill Whedon and is available on the club's website. Frank Carta is the head professional. The course was built by golf course designer and professional golfer Willie Park, Jr.
The PlayStrong Group is a fitness training center for children and young adults located inside the International Skating Center of CT. It conditions students from head to toe producing strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance. Home of ACROfitness, PlayStrong offers street tumbling, hip hop dance, stunting and fitness classes year round. Its certified personal trainers also offer Sport Boost Training for a wide variety of athletes and teams from hockey players to cheerleaders. It promotes strong fitness preparation before taking on a sport in order to minimize the risk of injury and maximize performance.
Glenbrook Community Center, which operated as Glenbrook School until the 1920s, is the site of multiple organizations, including Activities for Kids, which offers children ages 2-12 various pre-school (Playschool), after-school and summer camp options and the Re-Al Club, which offers assistance with alcohol accidition, as well as various exercise classes for senior citizens and Zumba lovers.
The Norwalk Pastime Athletic and Social Club is a private establishment run by an elected board. General member meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm, except in July and August. All members enjoy each others' company through sports, meals, functions and conversation.
