Education Alternatives is an innovative day treatment agency in Cuyahoga Falls, serving children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. The agency, located on Orlen Avenue, uses a therapeutic, research-based approach to identify and treat the underlying reasons for a child's behavior in a specialized educational environment. The center offers special programs during school hours and during the summer. Education Alternatives' summer camps teach children to play indoor and outdoor sports.
Youth Challenge offers free year-round adapted sports and recreational programming to children with disabilities such as muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and hearing or sight impairments. Each child is paired up with a teenage volunteer who is trained to work and play with a physically handicapped child. They enjoy such activities like basketball, baseball, swimming, skiing and more. Hoover Arena is a large indoor ice rink operated by Ice Land USA, serving Strongsville and the Cleveland area since 2002. A cafe and a pro shop are in the building for your convenience. Figure skating and hockey lessons as well as open skate hours and skate rentals are available to the public. Hoover is known for being home to the practices of the Lake Erie Monsters, as well as the Strongsville Skating Club and many high school hockey teams, including Strongsville, North Royalton and Padua. Discounts for Strongsville residents and Strongsville Recreational Center members are offered.
