Since 1981, the West Seattle Food Bank has worked to eliminate hunger in our community - providing food and other basic supplies, plus education and referral services to neighbors in need. The West Seattle Food Bank has two full-time and three part-time staff who are assisted by more than 100 volunteers each month. Two hundred people donated more than 11, 200 hours of service in 2009. Executive Director, Frances Yeatts, was awarded the Mayors End Hunger Award in 2004 for extraordinary commitment to alleviating hunger in the community. On June 1st, 2007 the West Seattle Food Bank celebrated its Grand Opening at our new facility, the West Seattle Comunity Resource Center and One Community Commons. This building is our new home, plus provides space for other social service agencies to offer services and outreach while clients receive food. Permanent office space for at least four other social service agencies and 34 units of affordable housing is included in the facility. Our vision for this Resource Center is that it will offer hope, along with resources to build self-esteem and personal security, while reconnecting families to support networks.

Founded in 1981, the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is a private, nonprofit nonprofit charity that distributes food and and grocery items to more than 400 partner programs in over 20 counties of eastern Oklahoma. Founded in 1976 by 300 families, La Monta ita Co-op Food Market opened its first store in a community center on the eastern edge of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M. This 1,000-square-foot store served the co-op well and by 1986 had a membership of 3,000 families and annual sales of over $1 million. Presently, it operates four stores in Albuquerque, Gallup and Santa Fe, N.M. When fixed incomes don’t meet a need or emergency situations arise, greater Longmont residents need a hand-up to prevent homelessness, maintain work and performance in schools and enhance family and individual potential. The OUR Center understands these situations and has created a welcoming, supportive and inclusive place for greater Longmont residents to seek an array of services to regain or begin their road to Self-sufficiency. In mutual collaboration with our program participants, we develop personalized plans to assist individuals and families move toward self-sufficiency. Each participant meets with a Resource Navigator to explore their personal Self-Sufficiency Matrix and, through two-way follow-up, they regain or begin the road to self-sufficiency. We provide confidentiality, respect, compassionate care, and honesty with all individuals and families.
