The Fraternal Order of Police Baltimore City Lodge represents more than 5,000 active and retired officers in the area. Events include general meetings, ladies' nights and happy hours for its members, along with candlelight vigils for fallen Baltimore City Police Department police officers and their families.

The Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. is a volunteer staff fire and rescue crew. This squad responds to daily and nightly emergency calls throughout the suburban capital region. Members have the option to libe at the station or can volunteer a couple times a month. Those interested in becoming a volunteer here will receive free training to become a certified firefighter or EMT.
Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, at the corner of Brick Church Rd. and Central Ave. in Edgewater, is a non-denominational Christian church. It offers youth programs, bible study, choir and music programs, as well as missionary service clubs.
As the only Catholic Church in Severn, St. Bernadette Parish is home to an extensive list of community-based ministries and services. Staffed by 10 individuals, the church's organization and structure enable it to achieve maximum impact when reaching out to the surrounding neighborhoods. Some specific ministries serve the homeless, Haiti relief, youth, marriage counseling and so much more. Education programs can also be found at the church to enhance its children's involvement. For more than 50 years, Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church (CMPC) has been serving Columbia and the surrounding areas. CMPC offers the Alpha Program and LOGOS Youth program. Some of the outreach programs offered by Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church are Habitat for Humanity, Helping Up Mission (for the homeless and addicted), Cold Weather Shelter, Gulf Coast Mission and Bethel Free Health Clinic. The church is on Old Georgetown Road, next to an I-495 overpass. The grounds, parking lot and buildings are partially hidden by trees. The entrance is not clearly marked and is accessible only on the side Old Georgetown Road approaching Tuckerman Lane.
Along with Sunday services, the church has regular men's breakfast group, youth and adult education and fellowship, friendship classes and bible study.
Saint Mark was officially organized in 1961 with 90 charter members and broke ground for this location in 1964. It is a member of Presbyterian Church USA.
