Point Pleasant Recreation Center is located on the corner of Maple Street and River Avenue in Point Pleasant Borough. The Recreation Center oversees a wide variety of recreational, sports, seasonal and entertainment activities and special events for all ages. Some of the activities, such as pre-school, babysitting, painting, crafts and other classes are held in the center's building on River Avenue. Other activities and special events are held at Community Park on Bridge Avenue or other locations in Point Pleasant Borough. Summer camps are held at the center and at Nellie Bennett Elementary School on Riviera Parkway. The public can use the playground, next to the center, and can ask about availability of the tennis courts and basketball courts, located just outside the recreation building.
Teels is New Jersey's premier baseball and softball training center. The center's staff offers one-on-one, small group and full team training. Training programs are designed for both recreational and competitive athletes. It also offers "Coaching for Coaches" programs.
Inline Morristown is an adult roller hockey rink and home of the New Jersey Surge, located on Dumont Place in Morristown. If you're looking for summertime fun, try Sunnybrook Swim Club. There are three pools at the club, including a kiddie pool, a snack bar and a picnic area. When the kids are done swimming, they can entertain themselves on the playground or basketball court. The club, which is set back on Devon Road, also sponsors a competitive swim team called the Macos.
Wyckoff Recreation & Parks maintains the township's parks and administers the youth sports program, which consists of boys and girls teams in such sports as baseball, softball, football, soccer, tennis, wrestling, volleyball, golf, cheerleading, lacrosse and roller hockey.
The recreational teams play at a variety of facilities in the township, from the Memorial Town Hall complex to the fields at the elementary schools.
The Parks & Recreation Board oversees the department's programs while Andy Wingfield serves as director of recreation and parks.
