The ACTC is a coalition of 48 local churches that provides emergency help to any family in need. The center offers a food pantry, emergency mortgage assistance, clothing, prescription aid and other services free of charge. Though recent media coverage has helped, the center is always in need of donations, especially during the current recession.
Started in 1990 by Tammy Fesche, the Ecuadent Foundation provides volunteer mission work in the form of surgeries, such as corrective lip and palate surgeries to children in under-developed countries. Through hardworking volunteers and community donations, the Lutheran Mission Society Compassion Center is a place where those in need can come to for help. The center provides emergency food, clothing, counseling, family education and household necessities. It also provides shelter for women (18 and up) who are pregnant and for single mothers and their children. There are currently eight Compassion Care Centers, including seven in Maryland and one in Pennsylvania.
