The Southwest Alaska Vocational and Education Center ( SAVEC ) was founded in June 2002 as a 501 ( c ), located in a remodeled facility on the Air Force Base in King Salmon, in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. The center provides career and workforce development training ot the residents of Bristol Bay and rural residents from around the state. SAVEC is governed by an eight-member board of directors that included representaion from all of the major regional organizations in Bristol Bay. The mission of SAVEC is "to promote, coordinate and provide high quality training and education to residents of Southwest AlaskaSAVEC is an independent organization, which gives it a strong measure of flexibility and the ability to quickly respond to the needs of industries. The center has a significant infrastructure in place that helps it to be an outstanding educational provider. SAVEC is equipped with distance learning capabilities and considered one of the most advanced classroom technology centers in the state utilizing Smart Board Technology, Audio Conferencing, Video Conferencing ( VTC ), and utilizes Wireless Internet throughout its facility.

Alaska Vocational Technical Center offers a wide range of vocational and technical courses. The center provides programs in automotive technology, business and office technology, culinary arts, and heavy equipment technology. It also provides courses in construction and facility maintenance, industrial electricity, information technology, licensed practical nursing, pipe welding, power plant operation, Web development technology, and welding technology. The center has an Alaska Maritime Training Center, which offers courses approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. The center additionally provides various student services, including dormitories, cafeteria, fitness centers, library and multimedia computer laboratory. Alaska Vocational Technical Center is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education, and is located in Seward, Alaska.

Alaskas Nautical Training School is a maritime training service. We specialize in preparing the students to responsibly navigate vessels safely and prudently, and to be in compliance with the requirements of the United States Coast Guard and with the Code of Federal Regulations. We are authorized to operate by the US Coast Guard. The typical candidate for a Coast Guard License has been involved in the fishing industry or nautical environment for many years. In order to qualify for a Masters License or a Limited OUPV Guide on the Freshwaters and Rivers of Western Alaska, the USCG prerequisites for obtaining a license includes sea service documentation ( not needed to take our class ). Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion from Alaskas Nautical Training School. Presenting our certificate to the USCG, and meeting the qualifications outlined in the USCG licensing packet, are all that is needed to receive a USCG Masters License or a Limited OUPV Guide on the Freshwaters and Rivers of Western Alaska, with no further testing by the USCG. These Licenses are issued by the Coast Guard. Along with individual instruction during regular classroom hours, Alaskas Nautical Training School will offer free tutoring each day after class for those students having difficulties with any portion of the class. Alaskas Nautical training School furnishes all materials and supplies needed to complete all of our courses. There is no need for students to buy books or supplies for class. Our workbook covers all the subjects required to meet or exceed the requirements set forth by the USCG for a Masters License up to 100 GROSS TONS on Near Coastal Waters ( up to 200 miles offshore ).
