Brookings Wesleyan Church was born in 1950 when two families had a dream for a Wesleyan Church in Brookings. We started out in a small building at the corner of 8th Street and 5th Avenue. We moved to our present location in 1974, and have expanded our facilities several times since then. We are part of Wesleyan Church, an evangelical, Protestant denomination, which is named after our founder, John Wesley. We offer the good news that faith in Jesus Christ makes it possible to have our sins forgiven and to know God in a personal way. For additional info about our history, click here. We are a church that offers the kinds of ministries you would expect from a larger church ; ministries to children, youth, college students and a great music program. However, as we have grown we have never lost that family feeling. If you are searching for a church home, wed love to have you be a part of our church family. God has blessed BWC in incredible ways since our small beginnings in 1950, but we believe that our best days are still ahead of us.

The purpose of LifeLight Missions is to obey the calling of Christ by reaching the lost around the world with the gospel of King Jesus as well as mobilizing others into their place in the Great Commission. Whether that is through short-term mission trips, outreach events, or conferences, our purpose is to evangelize the lost, disciple the saved, and encourage the existing churches & missionaries around the world. History of LifeLight Missions While missions is known to be the core of the Bible, it is also the core for LifeLight as a whole. In 1998, founders of LifeLight, Alan and Vicki Greene, took their family on a two-week mission trip to Juarez, Mexico. Since that trip, their lives have never been the same. Feeling called to do more for the glory of God, they obeyed the command to Go and make disciples of every tribe, tongue and nation by leading teams to Mexico regularly to spread the Gospel! Taking the church outside the walls, Bringing Light into the Darkness is what LifeLights ministry is all about and because of a great God, LifeLight has been continuously growing since. Since that trip in 1998, LifeLight has had continuing work in Juarez, Mexico. Through multiple short-term trips each year, LifeLight has assisted in planting a church, teaching and discipling many missionaries and pastors, and through Bible studies, outreaches, evangelism and house visitations we have had the privilege to serve others and be a part of the Great Commission for our Lord! All of our mission trips are relational and evangelical. During our outreaches, we have witnessed the amazing power and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ through multiplication of food, people being healed, and entire families as well as individuals coming to know our Lord and Savior. LifeLight has been stepping out in faith and holding on to Christ every step of the way. And while it has been a faith journey, God being an awesome God, did not stop in Mexico. With partnerships like Mission Haiti and Food for the Hungry we have done work in Haiti, Ethiopia & Bangladesh and have adopted villages in Zewey & Belo, Ethiopia. We also partner with other missionaries all over the world and we know that there are no limitations to what God can do. While going to all these different countries, we have seen complete life transformations on every trip. Through people embracing God and following the command to Go, we know that Gods work is being done all over the world and again, we know that there are no limitations to what God can do. STATEMENT OF FAITH 1. We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. [ Isaiah 44: 6, John 17: 3, Ephesians 1: 2-3, Matthew 1: 20-21, John 8: 58, Hebrews 9: 14 ] 2. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God, inerrant in the original writings. [ II Timothy 3: 16, 2 Peter 1: 21 ]
