Monsignor Matthew F. St. Peter's By The Sea is a small, Episcopalian preschool located on Central Street, just a few blocks from the Narragansett seawall. It is connected to St. Peter's By The Sea Episcopal Church via an annex completed in the late 2000s. The school has been in operation since the 1970s, when the vacant rector's house on the church's property was converted into a schoolhouse.
Conveniently located on Rt 108, this day care has a very private outdoor play space located behind the building. Licensed by the RI Dept. of Children, Youth and Families and the RI Dept. of Education, this program operates year round Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 6:30pm except Holidays. RI Dept. of Human Services Child Care Assistance payments are accepted.
CANE Child Development Center, conveniently located on Post Road, directly off Route 1, is an early-learning center dedicated to providing low- to moderate-income families with affordable daycare. CANE Child Development Center services children ages 18 months to 6 years, offering instruction through learn-by-play programs.
The center is open weekdays from 7:30am to 5:30pm, providing breakfast, lunch and snacks to all children in attendance.
CANE provides daycare to children of all communities, primarily serving families of South Kingstown, Narragansett, Charlestown and surrounding areas.
Located on Elmwood Avenue, First Years Learning Center is a pre-school and daycare that accepts children from infants to pre-school age. Owned by Anne and John Andrews, First Years Learning Center has grown to be a trusted childcare provider to dozens of families in Rhode Island.
The center is fully staffed and includes breakfast and lunch programs, an infant program, a registered nurse and a state-ceritifed early childhood education teacher.
The Beehive Childhood Center in East Providence specializes in toddler to preschool-aged children with a specific curriculum geared toward preparing them for school. The Portsmouth Nursery School, located behind the Portsmouth United Methodist Church on East Main Rd., is currently accepting enrollment for the fall. The school is closed during summer months.
