KinderArt is a preschool program for children ages 2 to 6, with the goal of "inspiring confident enthusiastic learners." Located on Valley Road, KinderArt is an integrative program that offers a variety of activities for all of its ages groups. Children are broken up into "Little Lambs" (ages 2-3); "Caterpillars" (ages 3-4); "Butterflies" (ages 4-5); and Kindergarten (ages 5-6).
In addition to its regular school program, summer camps, school vacation camps and after-school programs are also available. Infant care is also offered.
The center was founded in 1992 and is fully licensed by the RI Department of Children, Youth and Families and the RI Department of Education.
Sea Side Nursery School is a small, family-owned preschool that provides before and after school programs, from 6:30am to 5pm, for children ages three to six. Children can be enrolled at any time during the school year and for a special six-week summer program.
Children participate in arts and crafts and story time. They learn responsibility and good citizenship through an arts enriched program and personalized attention. Children also have the opportunity to participate in taking care of classroom pets to build responsibility.
Kids Quarters offers programs for infants and school-age children. For over fifty years, Silveira School has aimed to create a "superior" environment for its preschool, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children to grow and develop. The School incorporates a learning program that integrates order with freedom and creativity to foster balanced mental and emotional growth in its students.
The School's curriculum is based on the Rhode Island Early Learning Standard and is approved by the State Department of Education.
This independent preschool is located in the school building of the Barrington Congregational Church but has no religious affiliation. The school is certified through the Rhode Island Department of Education, and all programs meet the Early Learning Standards. Since this is a "cooperative nursery school," parents play an important role in their child's learning. Tots' welcomes parents interested in enrolling their children to stop in and see their preschool in action.
According to St. Peter's records, the worshippers have been meeting since the summer of 1852, when Joseph H. Dulles fathered a group of various denominations for worship on Sunday afternoons at Indian Rock at the shore. The first church was built in July 1869 at a cost of $4,000, only for a "great northeast gale" to demolish the structure in September of the same year.
However, the very next day the church trustees met and resolved to build a new church. This same church, built in English Gothic style, stands today, with the same stained glass Tiffany windows. The church has been in the National Register of Historic Places since 1982.
A preschool is also run by the church on the property. A rector's house on the property was converted into the schoolhouse in the 1970s. An annex completed in the late 2000s connects the church with the schoolhouse, and also provides office space. Sermon podcasts are available on the church's website.
