Directors Guild of America (DGA) is the labor union which represents the interests of film and television directors in the United States motion picture industry. There are more than 14,000 members that the DGA represents. According to its website, "the Guild seeks to protect directorial teams' legal and artistic rights, contend for their creative freedom, and strengthen their ability to develop meaningful and credible careers."
The Directors Guild of America also holds private screenings for its members on a weekly basis. The theater is huge and the seating is clean, comfortable and super plush. Paid parking is available on the side of the building. After most screenings there is a Q&A session with actors and crew from the film. Only members and their guests may attend DGA screenings.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars dedicates itself to "Honoring the dead by serving the living." Various community events and fundraisers take place at the Bruce Post VFW on Jefferson. The banquet halls are available for rental for private parties such as weddings, graduation parties and family reunions. Facilities include an outdoor pavillion and a gazebo on the lake as well as three indoor banquet halls with capacities of 75, 150 and 300 people respectively. Centrally located downtown, the Chamber represents and promotes the city and its businesses. The Chamber has several efforts to support members and to promote the city, including "Sunsational St. Pete." It is the largest chamber in the Tampa Bay region, with 2,400 members, who are individuals, companies and organizations. Chamber members work diligently to encourage job growth and business development locally and across the region. The group's Visitors' Guide has won industry honors. The Chamber also touts its Web site, which has been recognized for its ease of use and resources.
VFW Post 6650 has a membership of about 250 and is open daily. Members help community charities, lobby for VA benefits and receive business discounts from various stores. Other benefits include life insurance and home loans.
The post has a small free parking lot behind the building at 15th Street and Bay Avenue.
