Founded in 1950 as a mission for Southern Marin, Peace Lutheran Church offers numerous opportunities for worship, bible study, spiritual care, Christian education, social ministry, witnessing and fellowship.
The congregation meets every Sunday for worship at 9:30am, with bible study for both children and adults from 11am to 12pm. The church participates in the Ecumenical Food Pantry hosted by St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Sausalito every Monday from 2pm to 3pm. Peace Lutheran hosts an annual Kid's Fair on its grounds on Sept. 13.
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church has been serving the spiritual needs of the local community since 1955. The church provides a wide variety of services to its diverse congregation, including performing weddings and baptisms and offering classes in Bible study and opportunities for volunteering and community involvement. Golden Valley Lutheran Church can be found at the corner of Glenwood Avenue and Turners Crossroad. Since 1946, the majestic church has been opening its doors to the community with a goal of "touching lives with Jesus' love." Worship occurs every Sunday, but when services are not taking place, the church is used as a center for early learning and also serves as a meeting place for children and family ministry programs. Members of the congregation often go out into the community to perform service projects.
The Holy Cross Lutheran Church has a more than 40-year history in Livermore. The property on Mocho Street was purchased in 1961, with the original church building constructed in 1963. The building served as the main sanctuary until 1981 when the current worship area was completed. The church's mission is "to love and serve the Lord." John Bost is the pastor.
The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church offers men's and women's groups, youth groups, social ministry as well as worship services twice each Sunday morning. The mission of the church is to celebrate God's grace and glory, share God's message, serve the community and strengthen the God given talents of the church family.
The Cross of Christ Lutheran Church is part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The church features classrooms, a youth hangout, gymnasium, day care, offices, library and a theater. The Cross of Christ Lutheran Church offers rental facilities and special programs for men, women and kids.
Led by Rev. Mary Jane Hastings, Gloria Dei Lutheran is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It hosts a Sunday morning worship service every week at 10am, which celebrates the gifts of God with the Holy Communion. The congregation includes many families with young children. The church hosts a youth education program every Sunday evening for 7th and 8th grade students.
Affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Alameda's Trinity Lutheran Church has an active community engaged in a range of spiritual, social and community projects and activities for seniors, adults, youth and children. A Reconciling in Christ congregation, Trinity Lutheran is an open and welcoming community. Its members support many local causes including the Alameda Food Bank, Lutheran Social Services and Lutheran Disaster Response.
First English Evangelical Lutheran Church is located on Vernier just east of Mack Avenue. The church was erected in 1959 with an addition completed in 2004 that includes a full-size regulation gymnasium and a commercial kitchen. Founded in 1957, Calvary Lutheran Church has grown from 34 families to about 1,000 members. It remains in its original site near Calhoun and Gebhardt roads, although its land has expanded and a major addition was built in 1996.
Calvary's Saturday evening and early Sunday services are more traditional with pipe organ hymns, while the later Sunday service is more contemporary including rock and bluegrass music. In summer the 10am service is held outdoors.
Wednesday evenings there are study groups and choir and handbell ringer practices.
