Elks BPO, or the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, was established in 1868 to promote charity, justice, brotherly love and fidelity, and also American patriotism. Elks BPO Wayne Lodge is a center for community programs that range from drug awareness and scholarships, to veterans programs and community investment programs.
The Hasbrouck Heights BPO Elks Lodge #1962 is the local chapter of the Elks who are dedicated to charity, justice, brotherly love and fidelity. Meetings are held on the first and third Mondays at 7 pm for Trustees and 8pm for the lodge meeting. Meetings are held on only the third Monday in July and August. The Elks Lodge is located at 128 Baldwin Avenue, just one block west of the Boulevard and is easily accessible from Route 46 West. John Maresca is the Elks Exhalted Ruler.
This is a local chapter, or aerie, of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, an international non-profit organization that was formed in 1898. The fraternal group holds community and social events and organizes fundraisers.
The American Legion serves the community's veterans. In addition to sponsoring Millburn's annual Memorial Day parade, it hosts a Veterans Day ceremony at the post on Main Street.
The Order of Elks is a national fraternal organization with headquarters in Chicago and 2,224 subordinate Lodges in every state, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Philippines, the Canal Zone and Puerto Rico. The Madison Lodge has a Grille Room with a bar for members and their guests, a Lodge room capable of seating 90 people, and a large modern kitchen. The Lodge's business sessions are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 8pm, except during July and August, when they are held on the fourth Tuesday only.
The New Jersey chapter of The Nature Conservancy specializes in multi-approach conservation across large habitats, such as land acquisition and habitat restoration. Other causes include advocating for importance of whole freshwater, marine systems, and the impact of climate change on habitats and systems throughout the state.
