Washington County Health Unit provides a range of personal health care solutions for children, women and infants. It offers treatment services for patients with tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases. The unit specializes in the fields of therapeutic nutrition and ambulatory prenatal care. It provides disease prevention, diagnostic, case management, pregnancy testing, and health screening and assessment services. The unit additionally offers community education, patient referral, nursing and consulting services. It coordinates the 5-a-Day for Better Health program and the Pediatric Nutrition Surveillance System. The unit also provides information and counseling to families for the death of an infant due to sudden infant death syndrome. Washington County Health Unit is a part of the Arkansas Department of Health.
