Smithtown United Methodist Church offers worship, small group ministries and lay leadership empowerment. Ministries include Sunday school, a music ministry, United Methodist Men, outreach activities and Wesleyan School, a nursery school for children ages three and four.
South Jamesport Beach is a well-maintained beach area located off of Peconic Bay Blvd. in Riverhead. In addtion to 3,000 sqaure feet of waterfront, it has a snack bar, restrooms, playground, picnic tables, grills, tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball nets, and a marina on-site. This beach features special wheelchairs that allow visitors that need them to use the beach. Parking is by permit only.
For private events, a facility use permit application must be filed with the Riverhead Town Clerk's office. This beach also has a Piping Plover Nesting area, which is off limits to the public, through June.
The Bayside chapter of an international network of Catholic not-for-profit social clubs, Knights of Columbus meets every first Thursday of the month at 8:30pm. Its facade prominently marks its founding date as 1956. Marked by old fashioned patriotism, American flags flank both sides of the building. The facility is open for monthly meetings and bookings of anniversaries, birthday parties and other event rentals.
Founded in 1963, the National Maritime Historical Society has been educating the public about our nation's vast maritime heritage for more than 50 years. Its national headquarters can be found at 5 John Walsh Boulevard on the bottom floor of the same building that houses Crystal Bay Seafood & Company. Membership with this highly esteemed group includes a subscription to its quarterly journal Sea History, 10 percent discounts on all NMHS merchandise, an official NMHS membership card and opportunites to participate in cruises and other special programs. The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church has a robust congregation. They are known around New Rochelle for their elaborate and highly successful Greek Festivals once a year in the fall. The church also runs groups for women, married couples, seniors and kids.
Services are every day at 9:30 a.m. (Orthros) and 10-11 a.m. (Liturgy). On Sundays, there is fellowship and coffee in the community center immediately following the Divine Liturgy.
Founded in 1848, Union Temple is Brooklyn's oldest Jewish congregation. It offers a safe, engaging and inclusive environment for Reformed Jews with worship, Torah study, social action and youth programs and even a preschool.
