Founded in 1981, La Casa is a nonprofit organization that provides a breadth of comprehensive services, including shelter, in order to diminish domestic violence and abuse in all forms. La Casa is actively opposed to all types of violence and abuse, including physical, psychological, emotional, verbal, sexual and economic. Established by a group of community volunteers, La Casa has provided more than 20 years of safe housing and counseling for victims of domestic violence and their children. The shelter encompasses 45 beds and is open 365 nights a year, staffed all day and night. La Casa s expanded services include non-resident counseling to victims/survivors, childrens services, case management, advocacy, civil legal services and community outreach and education. Other services include parenting, transitional housing and a counseling program for court- and self-referred domestic violence offenders. La Casa is located in Las Cruces, N.M.
