Reality Treatment Centers is a non-profit group that operates treatment centers for individuals struggling with alcohol and substance abuse. The Laurel site is a 22-bed facility for in-patient 28-day treatment programs. It is staffed with nurses, nutritionists, alcohol and drug counselors and health department officials from Prince Georges County.
Western Acceptance Facility is a recycling and disposal facility serving Arbutus and the surrounding areas. The center accepts numerous household waste items and recycled materials for processing. Some items include bulk items, Christmas trees and electronic items as well as up to four tires as long as the rims are removed. The center is open six days a week from 7am until 4pm.
The Goddard Space Flight Center was established on May 1, 1959, to honor Dr. Robert H. Goddard, known as the father of modern rocket propulsion. The Greenbelt campus is the hub for scientists, engineers and technicians building instruments and tools for space study and travel. The Chevy Chase Fire Department primarily serves the area in Chevy Chase encompassing Bradley Boulevard to the south, Wisconsin Avenue to the west, Western Avenue to the southeast, Grubb Road to the east and Beach Drive to the north.
