The town of Somerset is nestled between Bethesda to the north and the shops, restaurants and apartment complexes of Friendship Heights to the south. More than 400 homes make up Somerset. The town was incorporated in 1906, but its history dates back to 1890 when the land was purchased for a residential community.
The Carroll County Public Safety Training Center, located on Kate Wagner Road near Westminster Senior High School, serves as a training center for a number of local volunteer fire departments.
