 The Framingham Cultural Council is a 25-member board appointed by Selectmen. The board is located in Room B18 in the Memorial Building (Framingham Town Hall.)

 The Cultural Council oversees grants including PASS grants which fund cultural field trips for school students. The Council grants money to individuals and groups. Council members serve a three-year term. The Council meets about six times a year, including a public hearing to provide grant application information to residents.

The Framingham Public Works Department has several offices in town. One is located in room 213 inside the Memorial Building (Framingham Town Hall) in downtown Framingham.The Division of Public Works has several departments, including highway, water, sewer, engineering, solid waste management, wastewater, and recycling. The department is under the direction of Peter Sellers.The Highway Department is responsible for the maintaining and repairing the roads and sidewalks in town. The department is also responsible for plowing and treating, in winter, 550 lane miles of public roads, 38 municipal and school parking facilities, and 115 miles of sidewalks and public pathways.

The Milford Fire Department headquarters are located on Birch Street, off Route 109. Also known as Station 2, the headquarters houses administrative offices and a training facility. Most firefighters are stationed downtown, in the department's other station on Spruce Street.

The Framingham Auxiliary Police is an elite group of approximately 20 volunteers who give of themselves to make Framingham a better place to live and work. The mission of the Framingham Auxiliary Police is to be trained and prepared to assist the Framingham Police in the event of a civil or natural disaster. Following a rigorous selection process, the auxiliary officer training begins with a Reserve Police Academy run by the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee.

History:
The Framingham Auxiliary Police was originally formed during World War II, as there was a need for air-raid wardens to be trained and available should the country be attacked. Unfortunately, the need to protect our country has renewed focus from terrorist threats and actions. The auxiliary police stand as a ready reserve, part of our Emergency Management infrastructure, to assist in case of natural or civil disaster.  

Ongoing Training:
As part of its ongoing training the auxiliary officers participate in weekend training patrols, help out at community and civic events year-round as well as assist the Framingham Police Department as requested. The officers are also required to complete annual in-service training.  

Volunteer Opportunity:
Membership in the Framingham Auxiliary Police provides a means for residents of Framingham to make their town a better and safer place to live and work.

If you are interested in community service, over 21 years old, a US citizen, have no criminal record and have been a resident of Framingham for over six months, you are encouraged apply. All applicants are subject to an entrance examination, interviews and background verification.   All new members are required to complete a 250 hour academy training program and commit to between 10 and 15 hours of community service each month.  

The Framingham Auxiliary Police meets on the third Monday monthly at the Framingham Police Station at 7:30 p.m.

The Framingham Board of Health is a three-member board appointed by the Board of Selectmen. It's located in the Memorial Building (also known as Framingham Town Hall). The board meets regularly. Its responsibilities  include licenses, permits and inspections of restaurants, retail food stores, food events, milk and cream permits, tanning booths and beds, massages therapists and businesses, public swimming pools, tattoo establishments and more.

The board provides some health screenings through its clinic and medically-trained staff. It also holds various clinics at public locations throughout the year, such as flu shot clinics.

Marlborough Community Services is a human services agency located in suite 113 of the Walker building on Main Street.  It operates a food pantry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am - 1pm.  The food pantry can also be found in the Walker building at the Rawlins Street entrance.

Framingham Town Hall is known as the Memorial Building. It houses town offices, including those of the town manager, town clerk, tax collector, assessors, Board of Health, Planning Board, chief financial officer and more. Inside the Memorial Building is also Nevins Hall. The staircase outside plays host to the town's annual holiday celebration, including a Christmas tree and Santa Claus. The Conservation Commission consists of seven volunteer members appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Its functions are to oversee the protection of wetlands, waterbodies, waterways, floodplains and riverfront areas and to acquire and maintain open space land for the protection of natural resources and for the benefit and enjoyment of the citizens of Bedford. 

Bedford's Conservation Commission is the municipal agency responsible for protection of Bedford's natural resources through management of the Town's conservation areas and administration of wetlands laws, to include pre-construction review and permitting of projects in or near wetlands, waterways and floodplains.

The Framingham Conservation Commission office is located in room 211 inside the Memorial Building (Framingham Town Hall). Created in 1972, the Conservation Commission protects and manages open space in Framingham. The seven-member commission is appointed by Selectmen.

The Commission meets at 7pm on the first and third Wednesdays monthly at the Memorial Building.

The Framingham Assessor's office, located in the Memorial Building, sets the values on commercial and residential properties. These values are used by the town to set the property tax rate. Abatement applications for properties may also be filed at this office. The Framingham Board of Assessors meets Thursdays, except the first Thursday of the month and Thursday holidays, from 7pm to 8pm here in Room 101.

The Framingham Parks and Recreation Department's offices are located at 475 Union Ave., next to Bowditch Field Athletic Complex. The department oversees public parks, athletic fields, and town beaches. The department also maintain other recreational facilities available to the public and issues permits for rental use. The department runs a very popular child and adult program. Some residents line up an hour before registration for some programs. Children's programs include pre-school play groups, basketball, swimming, keyboard, karate, ice skating, tennis and more. Adult programming includes yoga, tennis, CPR, and more. Special programs include trips to New York City  and Atlantic City.

The Town Clerk's office is located inside Framingham Town Hall (Memorial Building), in room 105. The Framingham Town Clerk is elected for a three-year term. The current Town Clerk is Valerie Mulvey, who can be contacted at [email protected].

The office oversees town elections, and handles voter registration and absentee ballots for local, state and federal elections. This office issues certificates and licenses. Residents may pick up a copy of the annual report at this office, too.

Framingham has a Town Meeting form of government. The Town Clerk is responsible for swearing in newly-elected Town Meeting members. (There can be 216 Town Meeting members.)

The Town Clerk, in regards to Town Meeting, is also responsible for maintaining attendance records for Town Meeting members, and supplying town officers, board, and committees with a copy of Town Meeting votes that affect them.
