The iconic church at the intersection of Main Street and Freedom Boulevard is home to the city's largest congregation. The church was founded in 1869 and its current brick building was built in 1901.
The multicultural church hold mass twice on Saturday evening and six times Sunday. The services are split evenly between English and Spanish and morning billingual mass is offered daily. The church also has education programs and raises money to support community groups.
St. Jerome Catholic Church is seated on spacious grounds. Throughout the property, there are designated buildings for youth, recreation and church offices in addition to the chapel itself. The church has several ministries as well. These include youth, music, social, outreach, liturgical and spiritual.
Our Lady of The Wayside is a Catholic community of nearly 3,000 houses in the Chicago area; the church itself was established in 1952. Our Lady of The Wayside offers a comprehensive array of services for parishioners, including multiple daily liturgies and weekend masses, the performance of sacraments, such as marriage, reconciliation, confirmation, baptism and the anointing of the sick, children's and youth ministries, adult education, community events, athletic activities and many more opportunities for involvement in the parish.
