Wildwood Baptist Church is located on a large plot of land on Wade Green Rd., about a mile south of Highway 92 in Acworth. The campus is anchored by a large main building, which houses the main meeting hall and several classrooms and smaller meeting rooms. The church offers specialized ministry classes for all age groups and life situations and is also home to a weekday pre-school. The church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and adheres to the official Baptist Faith and Message as its stated beliefs.
A genuinely kind church, South Shores was founded in 1958 by a group of locals from the beach community. A few years later, the church was accepted and incorporated into the American Baptist Church. The mission of the family of faith at South Shores Church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Dr. Tyler Guy is the senior pastor. The church is licensed to operate a preschool and kindergarten. Weddings are performed on Saturday mornings and afternoons and Sunday afternoons.
Petaluma Valley Baptist Church has been part of the community since 1969 and has a congregation of approximately 400 people. It's led by Senior Pastor Tom Marcum and offers a variety of ministries for young adults, men, seniors and more. It also organizes numerous missions to other countries, most recently to China and Mexico.
Outside of the church, a changeable sign reads the words "Church of Amazing Grace." The First Baptist Church of Coronado is located on C Avenue near 4th Street. This clean, well-maintained church offers Sunday school at 9am and Sunday worship services at 10am. Other worship opportunities include adult bible study on Tuesday at 7pm, women's bible study on Thursday at 9:30am and men's prayer service on Saturday at 7:30am. First Baptist offers child care as well.
Elmwood Chapel, formerly Wellesley Baptist Church, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2000. The church is 60 years old. The chapel's pastor, Kevin B. Crispell, is a former high school English and drama teacher. The chapel is located on a quiet, residential street and also runs Elmwood Chapel Preschool, which is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). According to the church Web site, "In our seeking for a vision for this local body of Jesus Christ, as elders we believe that God focused our attention to be a church for people who have given up on church." A sign posted above the door as you exit the church reads: "You are entering your mission field."
Led by Dr. Chris Bryan, the New Salem Baptist Church focuses on the word of God, the family, and fellowship. The purpose of the Church is to provide a ministry of excellence through Worship, Outreach, Relationships, Discipleship, and Service. New Salem Baptist Church is located on New Salem Road north of Burnt Hickory Road.
The Living Faith Christian Church was recently built and is a large, modern space "for people to come to learn from God's Word," according to Pastor Ed Kirkland. Worship services are held each Sunday morning at 9am and 11am. Sunday school is available for children during the 9am service. The church hosts ministries and opportunities for all ages to participate in the service.
First Baptist Church of Sandy Springs is an open and inviting Baptist congregation. They began in 1853 as Providence Baptist but in 1967 they came to their current location. They are focused toward adult crowds but still offer a couple youth outreaches programs. First Baptist Church manages to present traditional Baptist teachings in a contemporary environment. The congregation involves itself in many community programs to help better their neighborhood. They offer mid-week studies and have a gym that provides members with basketball courts and a place for roller-skating. Whether you come to visit or stay you can always expect to be treated like family.
Heritage Baptist Church is a bilingual English and Chinese church. Several services are held on Sundays and throughout the week. It has ministries focused toward all ages from the nursery, to marriage ministries and all stages in between.
Macland Baptist Church is a fixture in the Powder Springs community. Dr. Richard Walker is the pastor. The church has many ministries, including children's, teens', choirs, and community outreach.
AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed), which focuses on Scripture knowledge amd memorization, is one of the most successful programs in the church. This program is age-graded for children from preschool to high school.
