The Greater Hartford Chapter of Hadassah is one branch of the International Hadassah Organization that was founded in 1912 by Henriette Szold. She began by providing help to Europeanimmigrants, teaching them English and helping them gain citizenship. Today there are over 300,000 members, making it the largest women's organization in the world! It is a Zionist organization and they began this initiative byhelping children in Israel gain medical help. To this day they are heavily involved with health and education issues in the United States and Israel as well as places all over the world.
