Calvary Fellowship is a non-denominational church that is, “traditional in substance but contemporary in style.” Bible based teaching, energetic music and amazing kids programs are just some of the things you will find at Calvary Fellowship. Known by many in town as "The Pumpkin Church," West Hartford United Methodist Church uses much of its pumpkin proceeds for community services. Traditional worship is held Sundays at 9am while the Morning Joy worship service is at 11am.
Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center is located in the quiet hills of West Hartford. Guests can come for a variety of men's, women's and co-ed spiritual retreats such as "Mastering Self-Care through Mindful living, Movement, and Meditation." The facility opened in 1951, and is currently directed by Fr. David Cinquegrani. The grounds feature a labyrinth for meditation and a gift shop inside.
The Universalist Church welcomes people of all beliefs to its worship services, which are inspired by Jewish, Christian and other faith traditions. Sunday services are held twice, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., most of the year and once, at 10 a.m., during the summer. Sermons are posted on the church website.
St. Mark offers weekly Mass at 5pm on Saturdays and at 8am and 10:30am on Sundays. Weekday Mass is held at 9am, and Reconciliation is held on Saturdays between 3:45pm and 4:30pm.
The Sisters of Saint Joseph is located across from Warren Street on Park Road. It is dedicated to "live out the gospel values." In 2010, it is celebrating 125 years.
The Farmington Avenue Baptist Church was established in 1959. It holds a Flyer's Club for children, ages 2 to kindergarten and The Hartford Christian Academy for kindergarten to 12th graders. It also holds adult classes. The congregration is led by Pastor Gary L. Jones.
The Church of Saint Brigid is the oldest Catholic church in West Hartford. The original church was opened in 1917. The present church was completed in 1951. Its priest is Monsignor Douglas P. Clancy. Monsignor Clancy presently serves on the pastors' advisory council for the archbishop's annual appeal and on the board of trustees for the foundation and advancement of catholic schools. It has masses on Saturdays and Sundays.
Westminster is a vibrant church with friendly and caring members who embrace diversity and help others in the community as well as throughout the world. Calvary Church of West Hartford is characterized as a church of Next Steps. Members will be encouraged and supported to take the Next Steps as Christians. The church is associated with a number of missions overseas.
At Saint John's Church, all are invited to "discover meaningful connections with God and one another." The members are led by Reverend Joseph L. Pace. The church offers education to students, from ages toddler through adult. Services are held here on Sunday at 8am and 10:30am, and on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
Congregation Agudas Achim was established in 1967 and is overseen by Rabbi Ari Weiss. The congregation is a member of the Union of Orthodox Congregations of America, and is committed to the religious, ethical, and communal principles and practices of Orthodox Judaism. It hopes to enrich spiritually and culturally the lives of its congregants through religious, educational and social services and programs, and through fostering ties and support for the State of Israel. It also aims to strengthen links with the Greater Hartford Jewish community and to foster and support programs that benefit the community at large.
The First Baptist Church of West Hartford, an American Baptist Church, is led by Senior Minister Reverend Thomas Carr. The church is dedicated to bringing "Christian faith and life together through Outreach, Education, and a Caring Community." First Baptist Church is home to Hope Works and The Center for Serenity.
Located on Farmington Avenue, Congregation Beth Israel is one of the Northeast's largest Reform congregations, serving about 1,000 families of diverse backgrounds. Clergy are Senior Rabbi Michael Pincus, Assistant Rabbi Dena Shaffer, and Cantor Pamela Siskin. The progressive congregation offers religious services and learning programs for all ages. The synagogue’s history dates back to 1843, the first year Jews were given the legal right to establish a synagogue in Connecticut.
The First Church of Christ Congregational inhabits a landmark brick building in the center of West Hartford. The congregation, established in 1713, has occupied five buildings over the years. Sunday service are held at 10 a.m. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month.
