The Tarpon Springs Aquarium offers a wide array of attractions for kids and adults alike. It features a living reef enclosed in a 120,000-gallon tank, which is home to more than 30 species of fish. Patrons of the aquarium can view a range of undersea life, including nurse sharks, bonnet head sharks, snook, tarpon, jewfish, alligators, eels, lobsters, octopus, live coral and anemones. It also features a touch tank, where patrons can pet and feed stingrays and small sharks. Guided tours are available by appointment.
Open in mid-September through Halloween, Johansen Farms at the Boughton Road location is great way to celebrate fall. The farm has a pumpkin patch, corn maze, petting zoo with over 500 animals, hayrides, private campfires and more. Additionally, it sells autumn decor such as pumpkins, corn stalks, mums, Indian corn, straw bales and other Halloween decorations.
Johansen Farms is also open for a few months in late spring and early summer, selling flowers, veggies and garden decorations and accessories.
The Farm also has a location on Route 53 with extensive gardening merchandise and mulches, open throughout the summer season.
Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary has several miles of nature trails and features guided tours and organized events for children and adults. Felix Neck is known for its children's nature classes, guided kayaking tours and stargazing. Admission to this Audubon Society property is $4 for non-members and $3 for members, children 12 and under and seniors.
