The Sowers Special Education Center serves students with severe social and emotional needs. The center is governed by local, state and federal mandates and laws for Special Education. It works to develop individual s social, emotional, vocational and academic skills. The Sowers Special Education Center administers the Developmental Disabilities Program, which offers vocational and life skills courses. Its curriculum includes basic work, community survival and functional academic skills, as well as appropriate social behaviors. The center also provides computer assisted instruction and research, audio visual and written materials. The Sowers Special Education Center maintains a site council, which is a group of parents, community members, business representatives, teachers and other school staff.
