In June 1982, with an extensive background in early childhood education, a love of children, and a few innovative ideas, Lois Mitten Rosenberry, founder and CEO of Children’s Discovery Center, opened the first Children's Discovery Center location. Committed to excellence, innovation and being distinctive in educational programming, Mrs. Rosenberry traveled to Italy in 1994 to research and train under the Reggio Emilia early education program, designated by Newsweek magazine as the best in the world. She embraced the approach and chose the best components to successfully integrate into the Children's Discovery Center educational model. Now, for more than 30 years, Children’s Discovery Center has grown from one center in Arrowhead Park, Maumee, to six locations throughout the greater Toledo area, providing full-day educational child care for thousands of children and families.

We are an independently owned driving school. We received a franchise in 1975 from Bicks Driving School of Cincinnati, and for a period of one year the school was managed jointly by Jack Bick and Robert E. Lackens In 1976, the ownership of the school was transferred to Robert E. Lackens. Bob started with one car, and he and his wife Nancy as instructors. Bicks Driving School of Middletown was originally named Bicks Driving School of Warren County. Within the first year, after being located at 2441 North Verity Parkway in Middletown, the name was changed to Bicks Driving School of Middletown. For the next eleven years it was operated as a single proprietorship. In 1986 Bicks Driving School of Middletown became incorporated. During the first years of operation we had only one car and two licensed instructors. Bicks now has eight cars and fifteen licensed instructors who conduct in-car training. Bob retired from in-car instruction in 1988, but continues to teach in the classroom on occasion.
