In business for 20 years, this driving school is owned by Mike Sullivan, a retired NY state trooper. It has New York State-certified professional drivers. Full hour private lessons are available and there is no minimum or maximum amount required. A five-hour NYS DMV-required preliscening course is given every Thursday at 5 pm. A half hour warm up lesson is also available prior to road tests. There is a defensive driving course that can lower your collision and liability auto insurance 10 percent for up to three years.
St. Isidore's R.C. School, located on Marcy Avenue, is a private, coeducational school teaching preschoolers through eighth graders. The school was originally founded in 1961 to benefit the children of St. Isidore Church, on Pulaski Street. Since then, other congregations support the school, including: St. Mark in Shoreham, St. Anthony in Rocky Point, St. John the Baptist in Wading River and St. John the Evangelist in Riverhead, however acceptance to the school is not limited to parish members. Sister Linda Joseph has served as principal for the past 17 years.
Pine Tree Day Nursery has been in operation since 1964, offering day care and preschool services for children from six weeks to six years old. Located on Roanoke Ave., just north of Pulaski St., Pine Tree sits convenientally located in the middle of town.
The Aquebogue Elementary School, one of four K-4 schools in the Riverhead Central School District, is located on Main Road in Aquebogue on the corner of Edgar Avenue. The school was originally built in 1929 and has undergone renovations as recent as 2001. Phil Kent is the principal.
Established in 1988, Alternatives For Children Aquebogue is a child daycare center, developmental preschool and nursery school. It strives to offer an exciting education program for young children, toddlers and kindergarteners. It offers full-day and half-day programs, educational technology class, music class, outdoor playground environment, NYS-certified Early Childhood/Special Education teachers and a full-time nurse on-staff.
Alternatives for Children is a NYS-approved Early Intervention evaluation and provider as well as a NYS-approved Preschool Special Education evaluator and provider. All classes are taught by NYS dually certified special education teachers who work with certified teaching assistants. Specially trained, licensed/certified therapists provide therapeutic services (speech, physical and occupational therapy) for young children. Additionally, social work and counseling services are provided by licensed/certified social workers and psychologists. Alternatives for Children has a student-to-staff ratio that meets or exceeds the requirements established by the New York State Department of Education of Office of Children and Family Services.
Situated on 68 acres, Cornell University's Long Island Horticultural Research and Extension Center serves as a resource for farmers throughout the region. The staff leads classes for farmers during winter months, and answers questions and conducts studies during warmer months - all in the name of increasing yield and preserving the environment. Students studying particular fields are hired during summer months to help with studies, though degree programs are not offered at this site. Whether dealing with bug control or irrigation, potatoes or grapes, the LIHREC has been aiding farmers since 1922.
Just Kids Early Childhood Learning Center teaches preschoolers on East Main Street in Riverhead, one of four locations islandwide. In addition to a universal pre-kindergarten program, Just Kids offers several different specialized programs for children, including an integrated program, a speech therapy program and an autism program. Just Kids also offers services for toddlers.
East End Arts and the School of the Arts are valuable resources for artists and asipring artists in Eastern Suffolk County. The EEAC offers members the opportunity to showcase their work in 10 annual exhibits the organization hosts at its gallery on East Main Street in downtown Riverhead. Works range from paintings to sculptures to drawings to photos to multimedia pieces.
The School of the Arts, located next door, offers students lessons in a wide variety of artistic endeavors. Classes include drawing and memoir workshops, jazz improv sessions, ballroom dancing and more. Courses are also offered at Brecknock Hall in Greenport, with private lessons available as well.
Approximately 700 fifth and sixth graders attend the Pulaski Street School every year. The former home of Riverhead High School is surrounded by Osborn Avenue to the west, North Griffing Avenue to the east, and sits facing Pulaski Street. There are many clubs offered for students, including the nature club, art club and journalism club, among others. Dave Densieski has served as the Pulaski Street School's principal since 2003.

The Riverhead Central School District offices are located in between the Pulaski Street School and Riverhead Middle School, on Osborn Avenue. The offices house Superintendent Nancy Carney, who took the position in summer 2010, along with assistant superintendents and other administrators.
Located in the heart of downtown Riverhead, the Suffolk County Community College of Culinary Arts offers residents more than the opportunity to be a future chef. The Baker's Workshop, a sit-down cafe, provides the public with a glimpse of what the students are learning inside. Situated on a previously vacant lot since January 2008, the building was previously the temporary home of the Suffolk County Legislature during its Riverhead sessions.
Behind the walls of the cafe, a culinary lab, baking lab and demonstration theater with a full kitchen provide ample opportunities to learn the trade. Culinary and pastry arts aren't the only programs offered on Main Street. A practical nursing program schools 30 future heath care technicians upstairs, and a hotel and resort management is offered as well.
