The Public Schools of Brookline serves more than 6,300 students in pre-school through 12th grade at its eight elementery schools, one high school, and a variety of special- and early-education programs. The district employs a total of 477 teachers, giving it a student-to-teacher ratio of 12.9 to 1.
The Brookline schools are goverened by the nine elected members of the School Committee, which meets regularly in a hearing room adjacent to the school department offices on the fifth floor of Town Hall. Dr. William Lupini is the town's superintendent of schools.
Lee Institute offers classes to prepare for real estate licensing exams in Massachusetts. The school offers salesperson, broker, mortgage lending and appraisal classes. Lee Institute also has online and night classes.
Founded in 1973, the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis is unique in that it offers training in psychoanalysis without requiring more than a Bachelor's degree from its students. The school focuses on the modern school of psychoanalysis and offers both Master's and Doctoral degrees. In addition to its Brookline campus, the school has a smaller satellite campus in New York City.
Boabom is an ancient Tibetian art of movement and defense, valued for its meditative and fitness qualities. The Brookline School of Boabom has two classrooms on the second floor of their Harvard Street location and its instructors teach several levels and types of Boabom classes. There are free introductory classes every Saturday at noon and Tuesdays at 8pm.
This institution serves youth ages 12-21 who have emotional problems or learning disabilities. The school population is limited to 35 students who receive counseling and job-training skills. Students earn a high school diploma and preparation to help find employment upon completion of the program. Potential participants from surrounding communities are encouraged to apply.
Housed in a former fire house on Monmouth Street, the non-profit Brookline Community Arts Center offers a wide range of community art classes for adults, children and families. The center also organizes rotating exhibits of local and internationally renowned artists.
Free and reduced-cost classes are available for elderly residents and low-income children.

Founded in 1842, Temple Ohabei was the first congregation in Massachusetts and the second in New England. After moving between a variety of locations in Boston over several decades, Ohabei commissioned its present temple on Beacon Street in the 1920's.
Temple Ohabei also operates the Ansin Religious School, a Jewish education program for students in kindergarten through high school and the Diane K. Trust Center for Early Education.
Jean Paige School of Dance offers dance instruction for young children to adults. It focuses on introduction to ballet for preschool aged children but also offer classes in ballet technique, pointe and jazz. Jean Paige aims to create a positive and challenging environment for its students, and has a Spring Dance Demonstration at the end of every year.
In addition to functioning as an accredited liberal arts school, Hellenic College is home to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, which offers advanced degrees in Greek Orthodox theology. It's notable both for its role as a leading American center of Greek Orthodox theology (they proudly stake claim to being "the only faith based Orthodox undergraduate school in the western hemisphere") and its distinctive architecture and campus. The seminary was founded in 1937, moved to Brookline in 1946 and spun off its undergraduate programs in 1968 to form Hellenic College.
First School of Mathematics is a tutoring program for math and science. First School offers after school and weekend classes for kids k-12, and also college students. First School offers supplementary or advanced tutoring, as well as SAT prep classes. Its curriculum has been designed especially for the First School of Math, and designed to enhance the in school curriculums of both pubic and private schools. First School's offices and classrooms are located on the third floor, above Beacon Hill Handmade Rugs.
Wall Street Prep is a financial training firm. It offers self-led programs, as well as classes with instructors and also e-learning services. The firm has provided programs to investment banks, schools and Fortune 500 companies. The company was started by investment bankers to give its clients a competitive edge.
Originally located in the still-standing school building overlooking Route 9, the William H. Lincoln School moved to its new home on Kennard Road in 1994 and now serves nearly 500 students, primarily from the Pill Hill and Whiskey Point neighborhoods.
The schools offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities and holds regular family events throughout the year. The Brookline Early Education Program runs pre-kindergarten classes at the school as well.
