Kafka Farms is a horse ranch that recently built a fourteen-stall barn in which to board horses. The facility offers horse riding lessons and provides horse training. Kafka Farms also has a popular petting zoo and sells fresh brown eggs.
The good people at Windrush are a breed apart. This not-for-profit equestrian farm doubles as a school dedicated to helping those dealing with physical, learning or emotional disabilities. Windrush claims to be one of the first "therapeutic equestrian centers" in the country and can trace its roots back to 1964.
Located on 35 acres in both North Andover and Boxford, and abutting 160 acres of conservation lands, Windrush has various offerings depending on the needs of their students. Hillside Meadows is a 70 acre horseback riding and training center. The 39-stall facility provides boarding, in addition to offering hunter jumper, western and ranch riding lessons, horsemanship programs, regularly scheduled clinics, a variety of shows and leasing services.
Located on Harbor Road, Baymar Farms is a family-owned and operated business providing horse enthusiasts in the area with riding lessons, horse shows and other events, and a summer riding program for children up to 16 years of age. The farm includes stalls, pastures, and other riding areas for lessons in all skill levels, and occasional horse sales are held on the premises. Lessons and events are held by appointment only.
Seven Acres Stables is a boarding facility for horses, where the owner lives on site. Boarders have use of the indoor ring and riding trails at any time - night riding is welcomed. Full board is priced at $500 a month and includes morning and evening grain, with or without owner provided medications and supplements, all day turn out, three servings of hay and day shavings for matted stalls.
Riding lessons are also offered here at every level.
Trailer storage is available at $75 a month. Horses can also be leased.
Beacon Hill Show Stables provides training facilities for horse riders on its more than 20 acres of land. Some of these competitors are featured in local and national equestrian publications. Beacon Hill also sells horses at shows that take place throughout New Jersey, the northeastern U.S and Canada. Windkist Equestrian Centre sprawls across 20 acres bordering Harold Parker State Forest. The staff provides a safe environment for riders of all ages and levels. They offer programs in different riding styles, and specialize in Hunter, Jumper and Dressage. Private sessions start at $40. The facility has two outdoor rinks and one indoor rink. A party room is available for special events.
