Verde Valley School, located in Sedona, Ariz., is a college preparatory boarding and day educational institution that serves students in grades 9 through 12. Founded in 1948, the school provides International Baccalaureate and English as a Second Language programs. Its curriculum includes language arts, math, science and technology education. The school conducts language classes in German, French and Spanish. It also supports instruction in digital photography, jewelry making and rock climbing. Verde Valley School offers sports activities, such as golf, soccer, softball, tennis, golf and basketball. It also provides various student activities, including yoga, martial arts, hiking and dance. The school conducts field trips to museums and organizes poetry reading and storytelling sessions. In addition, its students participate in several community service projects. Verde Valley School s library and media center features a collection of more than 60,000 books, magazines, dictionaries, encyclopedias, CDs and DVDs.
