This developmental pre-school, founded in 1958, is for children from three-years-old through Kindergarten. The school is focused on a child's natural development, rather than pressure for academic achievement. The Children's Center provides a variety of activities from dramatic play and art, to block building, cooking, and problem solving.
Little Folks was the first daycare to set up shop in the Farmington Valley when it opened in 1982. Today the facility is considered a daycare, pre-school and nursery school. The children range in age from 6 weeks to 12 years and are looked after by a staff of 12.
Located in the back area of Simsmore Square, Miss Lisa's Montessori School offers a quiet location for the myriad activities these children ages 3 to kindergarten will participate in. The Montessori program includes activities that allow children to gain independence, self discipline and responsibility as well as learn patience, and respect for others and their environment. Plus, there is the piano for some fun singalongs, the two rabbits and two chinchillas to play with and care for and an outdoor play area for some fresh air.
