Located between Sugarloaf Parkway and Scenic Highway, Alexander Park is a popular walking spot in the neighborhood. It features almost one-and-a-half miles of walking trails. There is also a horseshoe pit, chess tables and an eighteen-hole disc golf course.
With a very busy swimming pool in the summer months, Cofer Park offers competitive swim team events and lessons. The park also has a lake, nature trails, picnic tables, playgrounds and a softball field. It is named after a member of a prominent local family.
Brook Run Park, located in the Tilly Mill area, is Dunwoody's largest park. At 102 acres, it includes many amenities, including a dog park, community garden, veterans' memorial, pavilion, walking trails, multi-use fields, large playground, picnic area and a high-end skateboard park that includes two bowls. The Larry Bell Park Sports Complex and Fitness Center features four baseball fields, including the Parham Perry Memorial field; batting cages; two playgrounds, including one handicapped-accessible spot; a picnic pavilion; a concessions building; horseshoe pits; four tennis courts; and a gymnastics center.The Cobb Civic Center is also located on the park site. In addition, the park offers youth baseball, aquatics programs and gymnastic programs.
Garden Hills Park, the centerpiece of the Garden Hills neighborhood, is a gathering place for friends and families. During summertime, the pool is full of kids, moms and dads. The community center welcomes community meetings, parties and musical events. A open field is the site of soccer games, kite flying, Frisbee and other activities. An annual highlight is the neighborhood ice cream social. The Garden Hills Neighborhood Foundation (www.ghnf.org) supports the city-owned park.
Conveniently located west of Georgia 400 on Keith Bridge Road in Cumming, this park, built in 2001, includes 85 acres of fields, trails and woods. From soccer fields to softball fields, tennis courts to a 27-hole disc golf course, Central Park has something for people of all ages. Additionally, the park features a mountain biking trail, playground, picnic pavilion and walking/running trails. You'll also notice the North Precinct of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and the Central Park Recreation Center located within the park.
Located just three miles west of Downtown Atlanta, Mozley Park includes a 100-person pavilion with a grill, a playground, two picnic shelters, two lighted softball fields, a tennis court, a basketball court, two multi-use courts, a PATH trail, a swimming pool and a recreation center.
The park is maintained by the city's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. For park reservations, call 404-546-6757. To reserve a pavilion, call the reservation number and be prepared to submit an application.
