Teton County Parks and Recreation Department is a division of the administrative office of Teton County. The department supervises various parks with baseball fields, tennis courts, walking trail, ice hockey rink, sledding hills, playground, restrooms and picnic shelter. It offers a variety of programs, such as aquatic, youth, toddler, special, adult sports, fitness, senior and leisure. It has an aquatic center that has zero-depth pool, six competitive lap lanes, water and drop slides, and water riders and play structures. It also provides swimming lessons and aerobics for seniors and children. Additionally, the department s online services include facility reserving, pool membership and information. And when you spend a night, youre joining a steady parade of travelers whove stopped here since mountain man Jim Bridger built his trading post along the Oregon and Mormon trails in 1843. The Lyman KOA is a short drive from the re-created post (some original buildings) of Fort Bridger State Historic Site. Visit Labor Day weekend to catch the Mountain Man Rendezvous, complete with black powder and buckskins. Youll find plenty of comforts at the camp-ground, including a pool, basketball, sand volleyball and a pet walk. When youre ready for more adventures, drive an hour east to 91-mile-long Flaming Gorge Reservoir for great boating and fishing plus hiking and biking along mountain trails. More than 75 percent of the worlds pronghorn antelope live within a 90-mile radius of Wyomings second-largest city. In many places, the Plains look unchanged from the days when the Oregon, California, Mormon, Bridger, Bozeman and Pony Express trails converged here along the North Platte River. Trail ruts are still visible. Visit the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center or browse pioneer exhibits at the Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site.The campground is located in the town of Bar Nunn, five miles north of downtown Casper. At an elevation of 5,284 feet, the campground overlooks the City of Casper and commands an excellent view of the city and Casper Mountain to the south. Public tennis and basketball courts and a baseball diamond are located across the street, and golfers can choose from two public courses, one of which was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Or just relax in the big covered pool at the Casper KOA (Memorial Day to Labor Day). The whole family can make itself at home here with mini golf, a playground and a pet walk.Casper KOA is the only onsite owner operated full service campground in the area. We offer free restrooms with hot showers, a 24 hour coin op laundry and a convenience store and gift shop. And we welcome long-term campers all year round. Devils Tower National Monument, named a "top 10 ecotourism destination," is Americas first national monument. The monument was established in 1906 by Teddy Roosevelt. Nestled on the banks of the Belle Fourche River in the beautiful Black Hills of Wyoming, this KOA campground lies in the shadow of Devils Tower. Enjoy the nightly hayride through the historic Campstool Ranch, one of the oldest ranches in Wyoming. The movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind was filmed on-site in 1976, and it is shown nightly at the campground. This KOA offers a full-service restaurant, an extensive gift shop and a Sweet Shoppe that features legendary fudge and hand-dipped ice cream.
