A River Runs Through It Take a break! Savor this small respite campground halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier national parks. This KOA is in a quiet area bordered by the Clark Fork River - check out the fabulous mountain views. Nearby, you can tour the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site. Visit the Old Montana Prison Complex that offers five museums, including the Montana Auto Museum with its impressive collection of restored cars. Golf and ghost towns are also close by. Swim for free in the municipal Olympic-size pool in town, open weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Fish for brown trout, toss some horseshoes, play badminton or watch the wildlife in this riparian zone. The campground staff welcomes your critters; no additional charge for pets. Our campground sits under a majestic stand of more than 50 mature Cottonwood Trees and is a short, scenic walk to where the Tongue River empties into the Yellowstone River. Miles City KOA is located near the Tongue River and Yellowstone River and is close to the site of old Fort Keogh. Stay on the grounds where the Sioux, Cheyenne and Crow once lived, and where Captain William Clark and Sacajawea (1806) and General George Custer (1874 and 1876) once camped. Within walking distance of our campground, youll find the Range Riders Museum, Historic Downtown Miles City, the Eastern Montana Fairgrounds, Riverside Park, the Natural Oasis Pool and the Denton Sports Complex. While Downtown, check out buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Olive Hotel (1899), where "Gus" drew his last breath in the miniseries Lonesome Dove, the Miles City Saddlery (1909) and The Historic Montana Bar (1908).Pool opening has been delayed due to weather. The state is planning to redo the road, but that project is a few years out. If you take your time and drive slowly it shouldnt be too bad.
