Established in 1987, Courageous Sailing Center offers a range of sailing and youth educational programs to the communities of Massachusetts. It provides a variety of professional services and specialized programs for all ages. The sailing center features multifaceted educational and family recreational facilities, as well as a variety of membership and lesson packages. Courageous Sailing Center primarily offers adult and children sailing programs, including five-step summer activities, races, charity regatta challenges, dinner and dance events and private parties. It also offers a selection of boats for sale that includes family boats and classic pocket cruisers. Additionally, Courageous Sailing Center offers various corporate programs.

Established in 1975, Federation for Children with Special Needs is a parent-staffed organization that offers information, support and assistance services for the families of children with disabilities. The organization provides various programs for parents, guardians and communities. Its Advancing Parent-Professional Leadership in Education program, also known as A.P.P.L.E., offers skills training services for school-system teams. Federation for Children with Special Needs also features Parents Engaged in Education Reform, which is a national technical assistance project that increases parents participation in school reform efforts. Federation for Children with Special Needs also offers health care services through the Family-to-Family Health Information Center. In addition it features MassCARE program that provides support services for HIV/AIDS-affected women and families. The organization operates the Parent Training and Information Center that offers technical assistance services and conducts workshops for families and professionals who work with disabled children.

The Charlestown Working Theater was founded in 1993 by Charlestown natives Kristin and Jennifer Johnson. The theater hosts childrens' programs, offers a space for resident artists and organizes community events, including outdoor performances at the Navy Yard. Regular dance and music events are held at the venue, as well as full-scale theatrical productions.

The Kennedy Center provides a variety of programs to eliminate poverty and its causes. It has been serving children and families in Charlestown, Mass., since 1964. The center administers Head Start, after-school, and job training and placement programs. It offers child and home care, advocacy, substance abuse counseling, emergency assistance, case management and recreational services. The center s Homemaker Program provides home health, cleaning, shopping and meal preparation services, as well as companionship for neighborhood residents with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. It also conducts introductory computer classes. In summers, The Kennedy Center employs more than five youths through the MassPort Summer Program.
