New Canaan Community Preschool has been providing child care services for the families of New Canaan since the 1940s. This is a non-profit organization governed by the school's board of directors.

New Canaan Inn is a senior residential community located in New Canaan on Oenoke Ridge. The residential facility offers seniors independent living options in studio or one bedroom apartments. The community has 40 private apartments and offers a wide range of care services including three full meals day, social activities, around the clock security and weekly housekeeping. It also offers wellness programs for residents including exercise work and nutritional counseling, field trips to restaurants, museums and shops in the area, as well as educational classes and programs. The New Canaan Police Department has 43 officers responsible for public safety and law enforcement in town.
The force includes a motorcycle traffic patrol and bike patrol. A full-time school resource officer is in place at New Canaan High School and a part-time officer at Saxe Middle School. New Canaan's Animal Control officers are also part of the force.
The Police Department offers finger printing services, background checks for local employers, child IDs and safety seat installations, and officers will even check on your house when you're away.

Project Return Group Home is a therapeutic group home that was founded by a private nonprofit organization in 1986. The home offers a safe haven for teenage girls in crisis, and is dedicated to helping them rebuild their lives in a safe, structured and nurturing environment. Project Return can accommodate up to seven girls at a time, and also offers an after care program as well as an after school program that utilizes community services as an agent for change. Meals on Wheels, a volunteer-run organization, provides hot meals for approximately 60 elderly members of the community who otherwise may not have them. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday volunteers can be seen delivering comfort to those in need in the Ridgefield area. The Meals on Wheels program relies on government funding, and business and individual donations.
Established in 1904, the Perrot Memorial Library is an independent public library, serving the communities of Old Greenwich, Riverside and North Mianus. The library shares a database, online catalog and Internet service with Greenwich Library. Its catalog boasts 28,000 adult books and 31,000 children's books, as well as 2,000 CDs, 4,000 DVDs and subscriptions to 110 periodicals.
