California Teachers Association (CTA) protects and promote the well being of its members, to improve the conditions of teaching and learning, to advance the cause of free, universal and quality public education and to ensure that the human dignity and civil rights of all children and youth are protected. Headquartered in Burlingame, Calif., CTA is California s largest professional employee organization, representing more than 335,000 teachers, counselors, psychologists, librarians and other non-supervisory, certified personnel. More than 1,100 chapters and local teachers associations are chartered as CTA affiliates. Two unique CTA chapters are statewide affiliates: The California Faculty Association is the bargaining agent for professors in the California State University system, and the Community College Association represents members in 42 bargaining chapters who work in 72 community college districts. The CTA s top policy-making body is the State Council of Education. The council s nearly 800 delegates meet four times a year in Los Angeles. These delegates elect the three state-level CTA officers and the CTA Board of Directors. The Air Transport Division Local 505 of the Transport Workers Union is located right off of highway 101 and close to the San Francisco International Airport. Members of Local 505 are everyone from mechanics to flight attendants and others working in air transit that move America. Meetings are held once a month and membership comes from working for the airlines as a transit worker.

The Burlingame Bodies of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is one of the many groups that make up the worldwide Freemason fraternity. According to the group's Web site, its mission is "to improve its members and enhance the communities in which they live by teaching and emulating the principles of Brotherly Love, Tolerance, Charity and Truth." The Christian Action Life Line is a support system for low-income residents of the Peninsula. The center is a joint project between the First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame and the United Methodist Church of Burlingame. The drop-in site provides aid, food, emergency financial assistance, medical supplies and rental assistance. The center is also the site of the Second Harvest Brown Bag, a service providing food to low-income seniors.

The Peninsula Tennis Club was formed in 1933 and incorporated in 1971. Three individual courts are available for club members to schedule for playing tennis, taking lessons and participating in competitions. The grounds also include a club room, outdoor tables, snack bar and a swimming pool. The Club organizes tournaments, sponsors teams and hosts social events.
