Palos Verdes Art Center is  non-profit community arts organization. It is involved with local schools and pre-schools and organizes tours of exhibitions, visiting speakers and gives scholarships. Visual art classes, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking, digital arts, art history and much more is taught here, and everybody from ages 3 to 103, and of all skill levels, are welcome. Small classes are taught by artists and art educators. Private and semi-private lessons can also be arranged. Terms begin in January, April, July and September.

Perched on a seaside cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., the Point Vicente Interpretive Center has several nature exhibits on display, many of which feature the Pacific gray whale. The adjacent park offers a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. During migration season, visitors will likely spot whales making their journey from Baja California to Alaska.

Parking and Public Transportation at Point Vicente Interpretive Center
There is a free parking lot next to the center. By bus, Metro line 344 stops at Palos Verdes Drive West at Hawthorne Boulevard, about a five-minute walk away.

Best and Worst Time to Go to Point Vicente Interpretive Center
The best time to go is during the annual Pacific gray whale migration season, from December through April. The worst time to go is on foggy or overcast days, when the view is obstructed by low clouds.

Admission to Point Vicente Interpretive Center
Admission to the center is free. Donations are accepted.

Must See/Do at Point Vicente Interpretive Center
Be sure to bring binoculars. Even off season, visitors can often see dolphins and other marine life.

Picnic tables are available, so visitors are able to enjoy their lunch while whale watching.

The center features memorabilia from Marineland, a former aquatic theme park (it's now the Terranea Resort) that was featured in TV shows like "Sea Hunt" and "The Partridge Family."

Other Places to Visit Near Point Vicente Interpretive Center
Wayfarers Chapel, a glass church designed by Lloyd Wright (son of Frank Lloyd Wright), is about 3 miles away.

There are several scenic hiking trails nearby, including those at Del Cerro Park, Abalone Cove Shoreline Park and Ocean Trails at the Trump National Golf Club.

Horseback riding is available for about $50 per hour at the Wagon Wheel Ranch.

Insider Tip for Visitors to Point Vicente Interpretive Center
The Pointe Vicente Lighthouse next to the park is rumored to be haunted by the first lighthouse keeper's wife, who reportedly fell off the cliff on a foggy night. It's open for tours on the second Saturday of each month.
