Del Monte manufactures processed foods, such as canned vegetables, fruit and tomato products. The company also provides value-added produce, dietary snacks and single-serve packaged foods. It operates nearly 20 production plants and more than 18 strategically located distribution centers in North America, as well as food research facilities in Walnut Creek and Terminal Island, Calif. Del Monte operates internationally in Samoa, Ecuador and Venezuela. In 1971, the company became one of the first major United States food processors to voluntarily adopt nutritional labeling on all its food products.
