Located in New Canaan, Conn., Silver Hill Hospital is an independent, nonprofit psychiatric hospital. Since 1931, the hospital has been providing patients with treatment of psychiatric illnesses and addictive disorders. It offers treatment for a variety of mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, psychoses and eating disorders, personality disorders and substance abuse. Silver Hill Hospital specializes in treating patients with dual diagnosis of psychiatric as well as substance abuse disorders. The hospital has acute care inpatient services as well as residential facilities providing transitional living programs. Its acute care services focus on evaluation, relief from symptoms of illness and detoxification from substance abuse. The hospital allows family involvement in the treatment of patients, and provides them additional education about mental illness and addiction.
