The Lakes Region Planning Commission is a non-profit, voluntary association of local communities who pool their resources to obtain a highly trained professional staff to provide a wide variety of services. Our region consists of 30 towns: Alexandria, Alton, Andover, Ashland, Barnstead, Belmont, Bridgewater, Bristol, Center Harbor, Danbury, Effingham, Franklin, Freedom, Gilford, Gilmanton, Hebron, Hill, Holderness, Laconia, Meredith, Moultonborough, New Hampton, Northfield, Ossipee, Sanbornton, Sandwich, Tamworth, Tilton, Tuftonboro, and Wolfeboro. It was created in 1968 and recognized by the State of New Hampshire as an official regional planning commission in 1970. The LRPC is governed by a board of 50 Commissioners, nominated by the planning boards of member communities. A 12 member Executive Board, elected from the full Board of Commissioners, provides overall policy direction and guidance, and oversees the LRPCs financial affairs.

Staff & Board LFG is a small organization guided by a nine-member Board of Directors. LFGs co-directors have over five decades of professional experience in land use, land development, sustainable agriculture, farm entry and tenure. We work in partnerships and networks throughout our region. Co-director and LFG founder Bob Bernstein assists individuals, families and organizations with finance, project development, and strategic planning. Bob brings 30 years experience as general contractor, executive director and organization consultant along with a Masters degree in community economic development. Bob farms part-time with his family in southern New Hampshire. Co-director Kathy Ruhf is a nationally recognized leader in farm entry, succession and tenure. She has co-authored guidebooks, managed projects, led workshops and worked closely with farm families on these topics. Kathy also coordinates a regional sustainable agriculture network and works on farm and food policy. Kathy was director of the New England Small Farm Institute and has Masters degrees in administration and natural resource management. Bob and Kathy work with LFG office support staff, consultants and organizational partners to assist clients and implement projects throughout New England. LFG founder Craig Oshkello is an associate with LFG. Craig is a land use planning professional with a Masters degree in landscape architecture. He and his family live and farm on a NH community land trust. LFG is bringing additional associates into the organization who will deliver services on the ground and contribute specific expertise.
