Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary underwent a major renovation in 2006, which added six new classrooms. The result was, essentially, a new school building. New playground equipment was installed at the same time. Oglethorpe, which is adjacent to the Forest Heights residential subdivision, won the Georgia Distinguished School Award in 2005 and has also received a Georgia Technology Literacy Grant.
