Established in 1978, Montessori School of Maui, formerly known as Montessori Children s Home, is a nonprofit and nondenominational corporation. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools. It provides a variety of educational programs for students between the ages of 18 months and 14 years. The school s toddler program assists children in developing self-control and self-confidence through communication and real life activities. Montessori School of Maui s primary program provides opportunities for independent learning and developing social awareness. The school conducts classes in reading, math, geography, music, art, drama, and physical and natural sciences. Additionally, it operates a parent-teacher organization.
