Established in 1939, Columbia Rural Electric Association is a cooperative group known for providing reliable electricity to homes, cabins, farms and businesses in rural areas of Columbia, Walla Walla and Umatilla Counties in Washington. In 2000, the cooperative established Columbia Energy LLC to provide high speed wireless internet services to its customers. Columbia Rural Electric Association, which was formed to provide affordable electricity to rural people, has now grown to serve more than 4,500 member accounts and nearly 1,200 miles of electric line throughout its service areas. The group has also expanded its services to include electric products such as Marathon water heaters and ConvectAir room heating systems. Columbia Rural Electric Association is affiliated to organizations including National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and Northwest Public Power Association.
