The large, sprawling arena looks very new and well maintained. The arena is used for hockey, open skate and many events in the off-ice season. It has been used for banquets, charitable benefits and numerous other community events.
Minnesota Made Hockey trains hockey players from Mites through high school age children. It began by offering hockey clinics and has expanded to provide training, tournaments, trips, events and AAA Hockey Clubs. The Plymouth Ice Center provides year-round ice skating, rentals and classes at its indoor facility. This center features three rinks of two sizes, one Olympic and two professional. This facility also has 16 locker rooms and two community meeting rooms. Wayzata and Armstrong high schools and Providence Academy play their home ice hockey games at the arena. The ice can be rented for groups by the quarter hour. The facility is a public-private collaboration between the city, Wayzata School District, Providence Academy, Life Time Fitness, local hockey associations and the state of Minnesota.
Lakeville Ames Arena, located at Ipava Avenue and Kenwood Trail, offers public skating, skating classes, birthday parties, indoor artificial turf and dry floor rental, in addition to high school hockey games.
The arena is managed by Lakeville Arenas, a joint effort between the Lakeville Area School District and City of Lakeville.
