The Danbury Animal Welfare Society, or DAWS, is a volunteer-run non-profit organization that promotes the humane treatment of animals. Not only does DAWS hold daily animal adoptions, but it helps find lost pets, offers spay-neuter services, and holds several annual events to raise donations and awareness. The shelter holds up to 60 cats and 30 dogs at a time, and encourages those interested in adopting, to visit during its open house hours.
Elmbrook Humane Society (EBHS) cares for more than 2,500 animals a year in its Brookfield shelter that was built in 2004. With staff and some 200 volunteers, the shelter offers a wide variety of animals for adoption.
EBHS contracts to provide animal rescue and other services for the City of Brookfield, Villages of Butler, Chenequa, Elm Grove, Nashotah and the Towns of Brookfield and Delafield. The agency also offers educational programs with area schools on responsible pet ownership and animal care.
The Michigan Humane Society of Rochester Hills is a pet adoption center and veterinary clinic. This facility is one of four centers that the Michigan Humane Society built to help care for and provide resources for Michigan's 100,000+ homeless pets. The Rochester Hills is the only MHS facility that includes a Wildlife Department. The Rochester Hills adoption center is open every weekday, no appointment necessary, to view the animals.
Animals can become like children to us and there is nothing quite so sad as an unloved child. When cats and dogs are swept to the side there is at least one organization that comes to their aid. West Suburban Humane Society has become a one-stop shop for the love of an animal, be it canine or feline. Whether it be an irresistible baby or an adorable oldie, you can find an animal to help if you visit the West Suburban Humane Society. It's been around since 1972, they know what they are doing, do you? I hope it's going to the shelter and adopting your very own little kitty or pup.
Friends of Animals is a non-profit, international animal advocacy organization headquartered in Darien. The primary goal of the organization is to free animals from cruelty and institutionalized exploitation.
