The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization. It is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer. The organization provides research, education, advocacy and service for this cause.
The American Cancer Society Regional Center in Norwalk provides information and support to those suffering from the disease as well as families or medical workers in need of specific information.
Founded in 1972, Domus is a non-profit organization that assists the city's most vulnerable children and their families through charter schools, and community and residential programs. Domus' administrative offices are located inside of Trailblazers Academy, the organization's charter middle school.
Through funds by the United Way of Western CT, private individuals, foundations and businesses, Domus operates Stamford Academy for high schoolers in the city as well as the Domus Academy for middle schoolers in New Haven. The organization also runs the Chester Addison Community Center and Lion's Den after-school program, as well as three residential home programs in Stamford.
Puffin Cultural Forum is a performance venue and gallery from the Puffin Foundation. The location offers a wide range of events, programs and shows, including guided tours, film screenings and interviews. Some other events include music shows, guest speakers, workshops, exhibitions and theater programs.
