Our beliefs are summarized in The Apostles Creed. The Apostles Creed for us is the clearest, most unifying, and concise statement of historic Christian orthodoxy. It is the baseline story that summarizes the essence of Christian teaching and has been used for Christian instruction and worship since the very earliest days of the Church. This is the story we seek to live by as a community while also encouraging lively dialogue along the way about other matters of belief and practice. We believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church universal, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. We unpack these beliefs in the following ways. The Bible: We believe the entire Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It cannot be added to, subtracted from, or superseded in any regard. It, alone, is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. (Proverbs 30:5-6; II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21) God: We believe in one God who exists in three distinct equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the creator of the universe, never changing, eternal, all-powerful and unending in love. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 3:16-17; I John 5:7-8) Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ (the Son of God) became flesh to reveal God to man and rescue the world from evil. He, being fully God yet fully man, is the only person to live a sinless life. He was born of a virgin and took the weight of sin and evil in the world on the cross so mankind could be free from the penalty of sin and creation would be redeemed. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory. (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:18; John 1:1, 14; 3:16; I Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:15) The Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit was given, after Jesus ascended into heaven, to edify and empower the individual believer and the Church. The Holy Spirit is alive and active today. (Acts 1:5, 8; Ephesians 3:16) Mankind: We believe that man and woman was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, mankind is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God by his own effort. (Genesis 1:26, Romans 3:23) Salvation: We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins. Salvation is a free gift and only occurs when a person repents and places their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for their salvation. The Christian Life: We believe that every Christian is to live for Jesus and not for themselves. By obedience to the Bible, participation in a community of faith, and daily yielding to the Spirit, every believer matures and becomes conformed to the image of Christ.

Calvary Church is a member of the Evangelical Fee Church of America. Accordingly, we follow the Statement of Faith of the EFCA. For more specific doctrinal or theological questions, please contact the church officeThe Evangelical Free Church of America is an association of autonomous churches united around these theological convictions:God1. We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory. The Bible2. We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises. The Human Condition3. We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. In union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath. Only through Gods saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed.Jesus Christ4. We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. Jesus-Israels promised Messiah-was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.Work of Christ5. We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation. The Holy Spirit6. We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt. He regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. Church7. We believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by Gods grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. The true church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lords Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer.Christian Living8. We believe that Gods justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. With Gods Word, the Spirits power, and fervent prayer in Christs name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil. In obedience to Christs commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed.

Too often it is easy for a church to become a spiritual country club where all of our energies and efforts are focused to keep the members happy and we forget the mandate from Jesus to reach the world. Rock Family Church we dont believe the church is here for us but that we are the church and we are here for the world! 1. If our church ceased to exist today... would anyone in the community other than our members know or care? 2. If we were the only church in Colorado Springs... how would it change the way we respond to the needs of our community?
